Zuckerberg Shares Stage with Admitted Felon; Turns His Back on Innocent American Children

By Ronald W. Mortensen on August 23, 2013

On August 5, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared the stage with Jose Antonio Vargas, an illegal alien and self-acknowledged felon, to support amnesty for illegal aliens. At the same time, Zuckerberg turned his back on innocent Americans, including an untold number of children, who are victims of job-related felonies committed by the vast majority of illegal aliens.

Furthermore, Zuckerberg's actions, either naively or deliberately, put him squarely in the camp of the high-tech organizations that are willing to trade amnesty for 11 million illegal aliens in return for much greater access to foreign labor.

In a 2011 article written for the New York Times Magazine, Mr. Vargas openly catalogued the long-list of misdemeanors and felonies that he and those who support him have committed and continue to commit in order for him to live and work illegally in the United States. These include:

  • Vargas' mother paid $4,500 to have him smuggled into the United States under a fake name and with a fake passport.
  • Once Vargas was in the United States, his grandfather illegally obtained a fake Filipino passport for him and Vargas illegally used it.
  • Vargas' grandfather illegally obtained and Vargas illegally used a forged student visa.
  • Vargas' grandfather illegally obtained and Vargas illegally used a forged green card.
  • Vargas' grandfather and Vargas violated Social Security laws by obtaining a Social Security card with fake documents.
  • Vargas' grandfather and Vargas knowingly altered a Social Security card and Vargas illegally used the doctored Social Security card to obtain employment and other benefits.
  • Vargas committed perjury and illegally claimed to be an American citizen on I-9 forms in order to get jobs with employers such as Subway, the Y.M.C.A., the Washington Post, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Huffington Post.
  • Vargas created a network of family members, educators, news people, and wealthy business leaders who helped him carry out and cover up his felonies in order to remain and work in the United States.
  • Vargas and his accomplices in crime fabricated residency information in order to fraudulently obtain an Oregon driver's license.
  • Vargas even used a Social Security number obtained with false documents to gain entrance to the White House.

Apparently, none of these criminal actions makes a difference to Mr. Zuckerberg and his fellow high-tech elites who support amnesty for millions of illegal aliens while turning their collective backs on untold numbers of innocent American children whose identifying information is being used by illegal aliens.

Sadly, these high-tech billionaires show absolutely no compassion for these young victims in spite of the fact that they suffer terrible harm — destroyed credit, corrupted medical records with life-threatening consequences, arrest records and liabilities for unpaid taxes attached to their names, public benefits denied, good names destroyed, futures compromised, etc.

In his New York Times Magazine article, "My Life as an Undocumented Immigrant", Vargas clearly lays out the sordid criminal path that he has followed and continues to follow. He begins by acknowledging that his mother paid $4,500 to smuggle him into the United States from the Philippines when he was 12 years old. He entered the United States under a fake name and with a fake passport, which he says he never saw again.

Once in the United States, his grandfather obtained a new, fake Filipino passport for him. The passport came with a fake student visa along with a fraudulent green card. So his grandfather committed multiple felonies to document Vargas and once Vargas became an adult and continued to knowingly use the forged documents, he committed multiple felonies as well.

His grandfather subsequently took him to a Social Security Administration office and using the fake passport and fake visa they obtained a Social Security Card in Vargas' name. The Social Security Administration did not authorize employment and Vargas' card clearly stated "Valid for work only with INS authorization."

When Vargas was 16, he applied for a driver's license and was told that he was using a fake "green card". His grandfather then admitted that he had purchased the phony card along with other fraudulent documents. This, of course, means that the grandfather had committed multiple felonies and that from that time on Vargas clearly understood that he was and is using fraudulent documents in violation of numerous federal and state laws.

A short time later, Vargas started looking for work. He and his grandfather took his Social Security card to Kinko's where they covered the "Valid for work only with INS authorization" text and made copies of the card to convert it into a regular, unrestricted card. This is a felony.

While in high school, according to Vargas, he worked for Subway, the Y.M.C.A., and a tennis club. For more than a decade he used his doctored Social Security card to get jobs and, under penalty of perjury, he started checking the citizenship box on his federal I-9 employment eligibility forms because, as he writes, "Claiming full citizenship was actually easier than declaring permanent resident green card status, which would have required me to provide an alien registration number." Thus, Vargas repeatedly perjured himself (felony) and falsely claimed to be a U.S. citizen (felony).

As a college freshman, Vargas worked for the San Francisco Chronicle. He lost an internship with the Seattle Times when he admitted his illegal status.

Vargas points out that the superintendent of his school district (Rich Fischer) and principal of his high school (Pat Hyland), both knew that he was illegally in the United States. They even looked into adopting him so he could regularize his status but discovered that it was not possible.

And, according to Vargas, Jim Strand, a venture capitalist, offered to pay for an immigration attorney to help him get legal status, but that path was rejected because Vargas would have had to return to the Philippines, where his mother still resides, for 10 years before being eligible to apply for admittance to the United States.

Thus, Vargas continued to commit felony Social Security fraud, perjure himself on I-9 forms, and illegally declare himself to be a U.S. citizen. And he encouraged American citizens to help him carry out his various felonies and misdemeanors, which resulted in them violating numerous laws as well.

In order to obtain an Oregon driver's license, Vargas used his fraudulently obtained Social Security card and allowed his school superintendent, his principal, and the superintendent's longtime assistant to unlawfully fabricate documents in order to provide proof of Oregon residence for him.

Vargas writes, "I was paying state and federal taxes, but I was using an invalid Social Security card [a felony] and writing false information on my employment forms [a felony]. But that seemed better than depending on my grandparents or on Pat, Rich, and Jim — or returning to a country I barely remembered [but where his mother still lived.]"

According to Vargas, he decided to work hard to prove that he deserved to be in the United States. And to do this, he knowingly committed felony after felony after felony while dragging others into his criminal activities and showing a total disrespect for the laws that American citizens follow and expect others to have the decency to obey.

A supervisor at the Washington Post, Peter Perl, helped Vargas hide his illegal status and the Washington Post allowed him to give the Secret Service his Social Security number that had been obtained with false documents in order to get into the White House where he interviewed senior aides and covered a state dinner.

Vargas was eventually lured away from the Washington Post by Arianna Huffington. He apparently used his fraudulent documents and successfully committed still more job-related felonies because, like so many other employers, Huffington did not use E-Verify. He left Huffington after a short time and he obtained a Washington state driver's license.

Vargas then decided that he was "done running" and told the world that he was an illegal alien. But he didn't start obeying the law. Rather, he continues to live illegally in the United States and demands that he be granted amnesty and citizenship as a reward for his crimes.

Now Vargas has won the support and patronage of Zuckerberg, even as Vargas apparently continues to use his fraudulently obtained Social Security number, to perjure himself on I-9 forms when necessary, and to violate American immigration laws with impunity.

For whatever reason, Zuckerberg has chosen to use his virtually unlimited financial resources to support amnesty for millions of illegal alien felons while turning his back on their innocent victims. Hopefully, Zuckerberg will come to realize that mercy for the perpetrator without justice for the victim is mean-spirited and cruel and that it is wrong to make collateral damage out of innocent Americans in order to further his own, narrow self-interests, but only time will tell.
