Immigration Brief: MS-13 Resurgence

Immigration Enforcement Needed to Take Back Our Streets

By Jessica M. Vaughan and Bryan Griffith on February 23, 2018

The Center for Immigration examined over 500 cases of MS-13 members arrested or indicted since 2012, including 207 who were charged with murder.  Jessica Vaughan, the Center’s director of policy studies, discusses how “catch and release” policies fueled the rebound of MS-13 in the United States. As the gang has a large number of members who are illegal aliens from El Salvador, many of whom arrived as unaccompanied minors, strategic immigration enforcement must be a part of any successful plan to fight this brutal transnational criminal organization.
