Quick Look at Some of the Corker-Hoeven Amendment's Many Flaws
| A document circulating on the Hill highlights some of the Corker-Hoeven substitute amendment's worst provisions. The amendment leaves in place the basic structure of the Schumer-Rubio amnesty: mass amnesty first, real enforcement never. The gory details include: Read more... |

| This is my seventh and last blog on the SAFE ("Strengthen and Fortify Enforcement") Act, a bill pending in the House of Representatives as H.R. 2278. Presidential Discretion in Immigration Policy: Deja Vu?
| The dilemma for real immigration reformers in Congress is that that the president and the executive branch do have some degree of constitutionally mandated discretion in enforcing immigration laws. Exactly how much is a matter of debate. Jeffrey Anderson writing in the Weekly Standard of the president's decision not to deport young illegal aliens characterized that initiative as "pure lawlessness". Read more... |
Senate (again) passes amnesty. High court decides marriage, voting rights.
| Newsworks, June 28, 2013 After invoking cloture, the U.S. Senate on May 25, 2006, adopted the so-called Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006 by a vote of 62 to 36.
