The open-border media is reporting, seemingly begrudgingly and with as little detail as possible, the conviction of Honduran illegal alien Melvin Jovel for the execution-style murders of three New Jersey college students in 2007. This horrific crime doesn't fit nicely into the open-border media's amnesty agenda.
According to the Associated Press:
Prosecutors said Jovel and five other young men lined up Iofemi Hightower and Dashon Harvey, both 20, and 18-year-old Terrance Aeriel, against a schoolyard wall in Newark and shot each of them in the back of the head on a summer night in 2007.
A fourth victim survived and testified at the first trial in the case that she was sexually assaulted, slashed with a machete and shot in the head.
Another defendant is Rodolfo Godinez, a legal Nicaraguan immigrant who, along with the other defendants, was engaged in an initiation ritual for the MS-13 street gang. As the Center for Immigration Studies has previously reported, MS-13 is overwhelmingly made up of illegal aliens and is a significant threat to public safety. Cities which provide sanctuary to illegal aliens are encouraging similar violence in their jurisdictions. Such cities help the gang to grow as the gang's leadership recruits legal immigrants and citizens (usually at schools and prisons), oftentimes under threat of death.
Godinez and Jovel were each sentenced to three consecutive life terms. The four other defendants are in jail, awaiting trial.
